The IEEE Long Island Section has been one of the most active and successful Sections in the region. Our Section was once again recognized highly at the IEEE Region 1 Board of Governors’ meeting on August 6, 2016, in Mystic, Connecticut. Santo Mazzola and I attended the day-long meeting and presented our Section activities.
It is with great pleasure to inform you that four distinguished Members of our Section have been selected for the 2016 Region 1 Awards. Please join me to congratulate the award recipients:
Lawrence S. Hausman
I would also like to mention that our Section is one of the leading Sections in receiving awards. Thanks to the Awards Committee for their sincere service.
Our Section gave a special citation to Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe at the Annual Banquet held in March. Tesla Science Center organized a great event to celebrate Nikola Tesla’s 160th birthday on July 10, 2016. They invited our Section to join the event. A couple of Members from our Section attended the ceremony. Jesse Taub, Davor Dokonal and I gave talks and presented the plaque to Tesla Science Center. Our participation was highly appreciated by the Center as well as the audience.
It is time to start the election process for the 2017 Section Officers. The officer positions are as follows:
First Vice Chair
Second Vice Chair
If you are interested or know anybody who is interested and capable, please contact the nominating committee listed below:
John Vodopia (Chair)
John Schmidt (Member)
The Section is going to organize technical meetings, workshops, and conferences in next couple of months. Hope you would get involved in these activities.
Looking forward to hearing from you with comments and suggestions.
