The 66th Annual IEEE Long Island Section Awards Banquet was held on March 28, 2019. I would personally like to thank all of the volunteers who helped to make it a grand success. I enjoyed the opportunity to honor the awardees, and to network with the members and guests who were in attendance. An article about the Awards Banquet can be found in this edition of the PULSE on page 8.
The IEEE LI Section is sponsoring many events in the month of April. The April 1st “Networking Event” will be held at Houlihans. The event is by email invitation to only the IEEE LI Section Members. One of our initiatives in 2019 will be to focus on “Member Only Benefits”. The “Satellite Communications” lecture will be held on April 3rd at 6pm at BAE Systems, Greenlawn. The “An Eye toward Intellectual Property” lecture by John Vodopia will be held on April 10, 2019 at Stony Brook University. The Microwave Symposium is a major annual event for the Section. It will be held on April 18th, 2019. I encourage you to attend the many informative lectures and to visit the exhibit hall during the event. On April 22nd, there will be a talk titled “Technology and Technical Work: Shaping Our Common Future” by IEEE Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Welby, at NYIT. The “Computer Simulations and How They help Medical Doctors make Medical Decisions” lecture by Dr. Milan Toma will be held on April 24th at Stony Brook. On April 25th, the Engineers Club will be meeting at Farmingdale State College On May 3, 2019, the LISAT Conference will be held at Farmingdale State College. Many informative lectures will be held, and there will again be a professional development track. Please plan to attend and encourage your colleagues to join us as well. I would encourage you to check the Section website and calendar frequently to stay informed about all of our upcoming events and seminars. Please consider supporting the Section by volunteering to become involved in one of our Societies, Affinity Groups, or Committees.
