Service as a volunteer on the Section’s Executive Committee in an officer position is a chance to help drive the decisions of our professional association and shape the future of our Section, associated Chapters and Groups, and the IEEE organization as a whole. The opportunity to work with other leaders in the Section’s Executive Committee allows one to be on the cutting edge of membership concerns and to be part of the decision-making process on the regional level, driving the strategic goals or the organization. It is an exciting time to join the leadership of the Section and help us move into our ambitious future.

Our Section is driven by volunteers, contributing their time and efforts to benefit all Long Island professionals, not only IEEE Section members. Your assistance in identifying outstanding professional and community leaders willing to serve our Section is essential for the productive operation of the Section.

Self-nominations are perfectly acceptable. Serving on the Section’s Executive Committee in any capacity is a valuable personal experience and the experience valued in the industry always on the lookout for effective and experienced leaders.

To help with the understanding of the officer’s responsibilities and expectations, please see the newly created document “Section Officer Position Description” published on the Section’s website here and in the June 2017 edition of Pulse.
