March is a very busy month for the Long Island Section. Our 66th Annual Awards Banquet will be held on March 28, 2019 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. The Awards Banquet is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of those who have contributed to the \u201cAdvancement of Humanity through Technology.\u201d The link to the event registration is ieee.li\/rsvp. The link also has additional information about the banquet. I hope that you will join me at the Awards Banquet and encourage your colleagues to join us as well.<\/p>\n

I met with the Hofstra Student Chapter on February 25th. They will be receiving the Velio Marsocci Outstanding Student Chapter award at the LI Section banquet. This award was bestowed on the chapter for \u201cencouraging careers in biomedical, electrical, electronic, and computer engineering through outreach to high schools.<\/p>\n

On February 28th, the Young Professionals Affinity Group sponsored a lecture on \u201cComputer Simulations and How They Help Medical Doctors\u201d. The lecture was held at NYIT and was co-sponsored by the Computer Society and Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. <\/p>\n

At the Section level there are many ways that we can contribute to the IEEE mission. Attending one of the conferences or seminars is one way. Participating in one of our Societies, attending our networking event, or writing an article for the PULSE are other ways. I invite you to participate in our Section activities and encourage your colleagues to as well. <\/p>\n
