It is a list of interview questions and tips published in the year 1975, provided to Charles by the member of the Long Island Engineers\u2019 Club Martin Danahy, who obtained it from Northwestern University. The 1975 edition of THE ENDICOTT REPORT of Northwestern University lists 50 questions frequently asked by employers in interviews with college seniors. You should spend a lot of time considering these questions and practicing answers to them.<\/p>\n

Here are some examples of’ different types of organizations and some basic information you should have about them. This is not a comprehensive list, but it should give you a -general idea of what information you should know about any employer.<\/p>\n
For a Job with a Manufacturing Company<\/h2>\n
(for any office job or\u00b7 factory supervisory job)<\/p>\n
\n- What products does the company make? Be particularly observant: for secondary product lines. This information is usually in the annual report or other corporate literature.<\/li>\n
- What is the company’s financial status?<\/li>\n
- What has the company’s stock been doing?<\/li>\n
- What is the company’s\u00b7 growth record?<\/li>\n
- Where are the company’s plants?<\/li>\n
- What is the company’s position in their field?<\/li>\n
- What is the major competition?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
For a Job as a Teacher, School -Administrator or Staff Specialist<\/h2>\n\n- How many schools in the district?<\/li>\n
- What is the bargaining agent (if there is one) for teachers, administrators, and specialists?<\/li>\n
- What is the socioeconomic makeup of the district?<\/li>\n
- If it is a parochial school, who operates it?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
For an Insurance Company Job<\/h2>\n\n- What kind of insurance does the company sell.?<\/li>\n
- Is it national or regional?<\/li>\n
- How does the company stand in the industry?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
For a Job in a Department Store<\/h2>\n\n- Is the store locally owned or is it part of a national chain?<\/li>\n
- How many stores does the company have at shopping centers in the area?<\/li>\n
- What is the store’s financial picture?<\/li>\n
- What are the store’s major competitors?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
For a Social Service Agency<\/h2>\n\n- What are the objectives of the agency?<\/li>\n
- Where does it get its funding?<\/li>\n
- What are some of its programs?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
EVALUATION FACTORS USED BY INTERVIEWERS<\/h1>\n\n- Poor personal appearance.<\/li>\n
- Overbearing-overaggressive-conceited “superiority complex”-“know-it-all.”<\/li>\n
- Inability to express himself clearly-poor voice, diction, grammar.<\/li>\n
- Lack of planning for career-no purpose and goals.<\/li>\n
- S. Lack of interest and enthusiasm-passive, indifferent.<\/li>\n
- Lack of confidence and poise-nervousness, ill-at-ease.<\/li>\n
- Failure to participate in activities.<\/li>\n
- Overemphasis on money interest only in best dollar offer.<\/li>\n
- Poor scholastic record – just got by.<\/li>\n
- Unwilling to start at the bottom-expects too much too soon.<\/li>\n
- Makes excuses-evasiveness-hedges on unfavorable factors in record.<\/li>\n
- Lack of tact.<\/li>\n

- Lack of courtesy-ill mannered.<\/li>\n
- Condemnation of past employers.<\/li>\n
