Senior Engineer’s Meeting

The meeting is free and all are invited.
Pizza will be served at 6:00 PM; the meeting starts at 6:30.

The IEEE Long Island Section Life Member Affinity Group is holding a meeting and inviting retired and senior engineers and all interested parties. The meeting will be in in Lorber Hall, Room 100 at LIU Post, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY 11548.

Meet old friends, make new friends, share stories.
The Life Member (LM) designation is applicable to an IEEE member who has reached the age of 65 years and who has been a member of IEEE (or one of its predecessor societies) for such a period that the sum of his age and his years of membership equals or exceeds 100 years. The Life Member Affinity Group of the IEEE LI Section caters to the interests of LI Life members. It also encourages these members to mentor and provide assistance to younger LI engineers.

If you are looking to get involved in worthwhile endeavors, there is much to accomplish. The Long Island Section has many technical chapters that can use your expertise and experience. There are many worthwhile endeavors if interested, e.g. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), mentoring, lectures, histories, etc.

Do you have a complaint, grievance, recommendation? Let’s hear it and maybe we can do something about it working together. You may want to voice concern on such troubling issues that persist regardless of laws or denials such as H1b, salary compression, age discrimination, engineering education, whistleblower protection, etc…

One immediate area that you can help with: Do not throw away your old electronic equipment. We are making arrangements to store them for demos to students on the evolution of electronics and how we have gotten to your iPhone, internet, etc.

Directions:

From Eastern Long Island
Take Long Island Expressway (I-495) westbound to Exit 41N (Route 107). Turn right (north) onto Route 107 north. Proceed to Northern Boulevard (Route 25A). Turn left (west) at Northern Boulevard. LIU Post is on the left.

From Western Long Island
Take Long Island Expressway (I-495) eastbound. Take Exit 39 and make a left at the light (Glen Cove Road north). Go north for 2 miles; turn right (east) on Northern Boulevard (Route 25A). LIU Post is 2 miles on the right.
