Abstract:
Optical pattern recognition and security techniques employ optical light source, lenses and other optical components to process the images in parallel for correlation deci-sion, which makes them ideal candidates for real-time pattern recognition system. This presentation will introduce the optical pattern recognition and security systems along with challenges and future directions.
Keynote Speaker Bio: Dr. M. Nazrul Islam is a Professor and Chairman of the Security Systems Department at SUNY – Farming-dale. He earned the Doctor of Engineering degree from Muroran Insti-tute of Technology, Japan in 1999. His research interests include opti-cal communication, wireless communication, digital image pro-cessing, security technologies and solid state devices. He has received a patent on Optical Pattern Recognition. He has published more than 150 publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is serving as the Chair of the IEEE Long Island Section.
